Results of Actuarial Analysis of Health Insurance and Recommendation for Selecting of Basic Health Service Package Covered by Health Insurance Fund

Workshop “Results of Actuarial Analysis of Health Insurance and Recommendation for Selecting of Basic Health Service Package Covered by Health Insurance Fund” was organized from April 21 to April 22 at La Thanh Hotel, Hanoi. Participants included Mr. Pham Le Tuan - Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Nguyen Minh Thao - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Insurance, Mr. Eamon Kelly – Expert from USAID/HFG, Associate Prof. Giang Thanh Long – ISMS and representatives from domestic and international agencies, organizations related to health insurance field and activities. Besides, there was also the participation of the mass media reporting on the event.

The major content of workshop is presentation of data collection progress, main findings of actuarial analysis of health insurance and lessons learned. Moreover, it includes recommendations of basic health service packages (BHSPs) provided to the Ministry of Health (taking example from caesarean cases); model of basic health service package and its deployment in Vietnam as well as principles and criteria for developing BHSP for 28 specialties, new services, drugs and materials, health equipment. We hope this would be meaningful step to build the basic health service package for all insured people which will be applied in the coming years, as regulated in the Health Insurance Law.
