Baseline survey in Vietnam and Cambodia for project titled "Subproject 8: Post Construction HIV Prevention the Phnom Penh City Highway, Southern Corridor"

For Asian Development Bank Partners with World Vision Australia, the Center for Health Education and Communication (HCMC) and PADEK.

Subproject 8 was designed to mitigate the spread of HIV transmission in communities associated with ADB-financed Phnom Penh - HCM City Highway. The project was also designed to raise awareness on human trafficking and to encourage safe migration for migrant labor. A cross- sectional survey of 1,105 Vietnamese and 1,046 Cambodian residents, motorbike taxi drivers, taxi drivers, factory workers, casino staff, and truck drivers was conducted to provide evidence for monitoring and implementation of the project. The study explored participants' socio- demographic characteristics as well as their HIV-related knowledge, attitudes and risk behaviors. Information was also gathered on respondents' STI/HIV testing practices and their access to services and information.
